RAVEN RIDGE TAKES A UNIQUE TASTE OF THE OKANAGAN TO VANCOUVER
Lower Mainland Wine Retailers and Consumers Embrace
Kelowna’s Raven Ridge Cidery Products
KELOWNA, BC – Kelowna Land & Orchard’s Raven Ridge Cidery is now available in Lower Mainland.
The Broadway International Wine Shop in Vancouver, West Vancouver’s Liberty Wine Merchants and
the John B Cold Beer & Wine Shop in Coquitlam currently stock Raven Ridge apple wine and iced apple cider.
“We determined that we would make iced apple cider from several varieties of apples harvested at
KLO,” says Raven Ridge General Manager, Nicole Bullock. “We have had great success and local
feedback on our first vintages of Fuji, Braeburn and Granny Smith iced cider. In fact, it has
been so positive that we’ve decided to expand the line and our distribution outlets throughout
the BC Lower Mainland. The cidery’s 2003 vintages, which will be released in May, will include
a new Ambrosia iced cider and also a naturally-carbonated sparkling cider.”
“It’s better than good; it’s sensational,” enthused Vancouver writer and broadcaster, Jurgen Gothe.
“Raven Ridge puts it up in a 375 ml dark bottle, so it even looks like and ice wine, and finishes it
with a cork… New one on me, this, a dessert cider. Actually, it’s really more like an apple-wine:
sweet, rich, lovely, but no cider carbonation. You can pour it over ice cream. You can sip it cool
and neat as a dessert, even an aperitif. It’s the slow fermentation that gives it its wonderful taste.”
“We’ve had some terrific feedback on the Raven Ridge products,” reports Rita Bruneau, Manager of John
B Cold Beer & Wine Shop in Coquitlam. “Not only is it affordable, but it’s delicious. The Fuji iced cider
sold out in a week. People really like the label, too.”
In the spring of 2002 the Bullock family opened Raven Ridge Cidery Inc. at Kelowna Land & Orchard (KLO),
their 140-acre commercial orchard set in the scenic Okanagan Valley. Mid-April through October, they also
conduct daily educational farm tours, while the on-site Teahouse Restaurant and Farm Store gift shop
attract local visitors and tourists alike.
Raven Ridge iced apple ciders sell for $29.95 for a 375 ml or $19.95 for a 200 ml bottle. A tasting
room is located at the orchard where guests are able to sample and purchase product. Raven Ridge
is also featured at The Teahouse Restaurant at KLO. In the Lower Mainland, Raven Ridge Cidery products
are available at The Broadway International Wine Shop in Vancouver, West Vancouver’s Liberty Wine
Merchants and the John B Cold Beer & Wine Shop in Coquitlam. The cider products can also be ordered
online at www.k-l-o.com.
