Logoed Apples
Kelowna Land and Orchard (KLO) has introduced a healthy alternative to
the endless array of corporate giveaway items. KLO’s logoed apples are a creative and
refreshing change from the usual selection of ball cap and coffee mug options often
featured at trade shows, golf tournaments and client appreciation events.
The process of imprinting logos onto apples begins in the spring.
The heartiest fruit is selected and individual apples are covered with specially constructed
bags. In the fall, the bags are removed revealing a pure white apple grown to full size.
Logo stencils are then placed on each apple and the fruit is left on the tree until it
fully ripens to a rich red colour. The decal is removed and the logo or message is imprinted
in the skin of the fruit in the initial natural white colour. .
Using a special cold storage method, the apples can be kept fresh until
they are required for a special promotion or giveaway. The apples are shipped in wooden crates
to ensure premium quality. Stamping the outside of the crates with the organization’s logo can
further enhance packaging.

Bagged Apples
Immediately following spring blossom season, KLO staff identify the strong
pollination areas in the orchard. They then thin the fruit, leaving only the biggest and the
strongest apples on the trees. This is done in order to produce large, well-colored fruit. In
late June each apple is hand-covered with a specially constructed bag that is made in Japan --
the country where the technique originated. In the fall, the bags are removed and the fruit is
then left on the tree until it reaches proper color and maturity. The fruit is then harvested,
boxed and shipped or stored in cold storage for a period of time until the customer requires the fruit.
